Key Responsibility:
Drive LCL Delivery functional outcomes
- Set and lead teams through clearly defined annual targets rooted in objectives balancing quality, cost and consistency.
- Monitor service quality of LCL Delivery across customers and routings (MLC, Hub/Gateway, Co-load), including LTL inland pick-up and delivery execution, and act on non-compliance to defined product or customer standards.
- Ensure Delivery teams provide speedy LCL order issue and exception resolution with CX.
- Work with internal stakeholders to fine-tune all facets of running LCL Delivery: Safety (HSSE), Control (Finance), Cost (Procurement), Product Standardization (Product / Sales), Process Efficiency (CI) etc.
Develop and sustain a capable LCL Delivery organization
- Build teams – directly or though team managers’ – with strong orientation towards delivering superior LCL customer quality as per the LCL product outcomes committed in OIPC
- Identify / attract and retain talent, and equip them with an ambitious learning plan; offering constant opportunities to practice innovation and change leadership.
- Ensure LCL Delivery team(s) are trained and practice in accordance with global standards for managing LCL orders, safety and local legal regulations.
- Map local risks (structural, seasonal etc.) to develop and maintain business continuity plans.
Drive Cost to Serve focus
- Work consistently to reduce cost to serve to remain competitive on both quality and cost in changing market conditions.
- Manage LCL Delivery capacity according to demand; plan for optimal mix of local Delivery team, GSC and 3rd party operations.
- Actively monitor and manage volume trajectory of customer base; work with CX and Sales to maximize utilized / profitable MLC network, reduce churn and expedite new and additional business conversion
- Constantly feed timely market and customer information back to Product and Sales.
Accountable For
- Overall LCL Delivery outcomes in Country / Area
- Ensure LCL delivery capabilities are in place.
- All cost and quality outcomes within LCL Delivery (incl. 3rd party)
- Drive standardization initiatives within LCL, and provide input on gaps in platforms, processes, automation etc.
- Create, implement, maintain LCL business continuity plans
Consulted About
- Annual (Budget) and quarterly (ROFO) LCL growth projections.
- Development and implementation of new LCL product offerings within Area or Country
- Supplier relationship management (with Vendor Management and Procurement)
- Local LCL market insights
We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations, with a strong focus on LCL delivery.
- At least 4 years of experience in leadership and people management, with a proven ability to lead, coach, and inspire teams.
- Language Requirements: Native-level proficiency in Japanese (spoken and written) and conversational-level proficiency in English (above conversational level preferred).
- (Preferred) HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) certification.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of LCL delivery processes, market dynamics, and cost structures.
- Ability to lead, coach, and motivate diverse teams, including direct reports and cross-functional groups.
- Capacity to align global strategies with local efficiency and customer needs.
- Operational Agility: Skilled in managing complex operations and adapting to changing market conditions.
- Problem-Solving: Proficient in identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills to collaborate across various levels and functions.
- Capable of preparing for and responding to external challenges with robust business continuity plans.
- (Preferred) Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or equivalent.
