Location: Par Moor Centre, Par Moor Road, Par, Cornwall, PL24 2SQ

Hours of work including shift pattern: 38.5 hours per week, 12-hour rotational Day and Night shift pattern:

  • Week 1 = 7am - 7pm working Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun (Weds and Thu off)
  • Week 2 = 7am - 7pm working Weds and Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun off) 
  • Week 3 = 7pm – 7am working Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun (Weds and Thu off)
  • Week 4 = 7pm – 7am working Weds and Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun off)

Salary: starting at £30,679.29 per annum (inclusive of Shift Allowance)

The Job Role

  • Perform routine quality control testing using approved methods and procedures.
  • Accurately enter and report test results in the LIMS database.
  • Identify, report, and act on any issues affecting test accuracy or sample integrity.
  • Test internal reference samples and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Adhere to ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards and all Health & Safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised laboratory environment in line with 5S principles.
  • Conduct “Take 5” safety assessments and follow risk and COSHH guidance.
  • Support continuity of QC operations, including potential to deputise for Shift Supervisors when required.

You Will:

  • A good understanding of Imerys testing methods and procedures.
  • Ability to work with accuracy and within testing deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible, proactive approach to work and willingness to support colleagues.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and systems.
  • Desire and aptitude to progress into supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
  • Have experience in working in a laboratory environment, especially with regard to Health and Safety.
