Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Act as a subject matter expert and advisor to executive leadership and management teams, proactively identifying and advising on strategic risks, opportunities, and industry or regulatory trends in privacy, AI, and data.

AI Governance & Ethics

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Dyson’s global AI governance and risk management framework, promoting responsible and ethical use of AI aligned with evolving international regulations and standards (e.g., EU AI Act).
  • Act as a key member in cross-functional AI ethics committees or working groups, promoting multidisciplinary decision-making.

Privacy and Data Protection

  • Champion and embed ‘privacy by design’ and ‘privacy by default’ principles across product, engineering, and market operations.
  • Design, implement, and lead global privacy and data compliance programmes, ensuring policies, standards, guidelines, and processes are robust and up-to-date.

  • Ensure robust governance and compliance for data access, sharing, and interoperability in accordance with global regulations, including leading Dyson’s response to the EU Data Act and similar emerging frameworks.

Stakeholder Engagement & Training

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with leaders and teams across all functions, at group and market level, to foster a culture of privacy and responsible AI.
  • Develop and roll out communication, training, and awareness programmes to embed privacy and AI accountability throughout Dyson.

Regulatory & Incident Management

  • Manage timely, appropriate, and high-quality responses to global regulatory authorities, data subject requests, and other privacy-related engagements.
  • Represent Dyson with regulators, industry forums, and international panels to advance policy, influence global data and AI norms, and obtain industry best practice insights.
  • Lead global privacy and AI incident response readiness, including regular simulations, and post-incident reviews.

Audit, Assurance & Metrics

  • Implement and lead regular internal and external privacy and AI compliance audits and gap assessments.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on key compliance KPI and KRI dashboards for the Global Legal Compliance Director, executive leadership and the Board.

Vendor and Third-Party Risk Management

  • Oversee third-party and vendor data privacy risk assessments, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring of contractual compliance with Dyson’s standards.

About You

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in privacy, data protection, and/or information governance roles at a multinational organisation, with proven experience at a senior leadership level.
  • Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and leading privacy, data, or AI compliance programmes at scale, including change management initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in global and regional data protection and AI regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PIPL, LGPD, EU Data Act, EU AI Act), and the ability to manage complex cross-border compliance challenges.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g. IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent) desirable.
  • Strong technical and business acumen; ability to bridge communication between technical, legal, and business teams.
  • Proven success building, leading, and developing diverse, high-performing global teams.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, able to influence and challenge at all organisational levels, including Board and executive leadership.
  • Board-level reporting experience, delivering briefings on privacy, data, and AI risk landscape.
