The Senior Supply Chain Manager - HVAC is responsible for operational execution of inventory planning across Ferguson’s distribution network!
Location: On site, Newport News, VA HQ. We offer a hybrid schedule of 3 days in Office (usually T, W, Th) and 2 days Remote (usually M, F)
This role is critical to ensuring optimal inventory positioning that supports high service levels, minimizes working capital, and enables scalable growth. The Manager is a key contributor in developing and implementing enterprise-wide inventory strategies in close partnership with customer and business group leadership and holds full ownership of end-to-end supply chain functions, including planning, procurement, inventory optimization, and supplier engagement—to drive service excellence, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
The Manager deploys customer group specific inventory strategies, leads the implementation of new supply chain capabilities, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and cultivates a high-performance culture through talent development and performance management.
This role is responsible for leading a high-performing team of inventory professionals, providing direction, coaching, and professional development to ensure consistent execution and continuous improvement.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities:
- Contributes to developing and implementing customer group inventory strategy in close partnership with the designated customer group and category management leadership, with full ownership of end-to-end supply chain functions including planning, direct procurement, inventory optimization, and supplier engagement.
- Works closely with external vendors and various partners at a corporate, regional and area level to implement supply chain initiatives.
- Develops and implements strategies and tactics to optimize product supply and working capital goals for a defined customer group and set of vendors.
- Manage supplier performance, work with suppliers on inventory planning and strategies to enhance service and better manage working capital, streamline supplier network through SKU rationalization, and monitor service levels and inventory days.
- Drives coaching, mentoring, and professional development for individual contributors within assigned Customer Group Inventory Management Team.
- Drives performance standards (KPI’s) supportive of the business, ensuring we deliver a competitive customer experience and profitability inclusive of purchasing, demand, and replenishment planning metrics across the company.
- Key member of the S&OP process, managing cross-functional communication between different partners.
- Provides ongoing updates to Integrated Planning leaders on supply chain metrics /performance KPIs and strategies to improve results.
- Responsible for execution of new supply chain initiatives, processes and/or tools within the distribution network to enhance associate productivity, improve service, and lower working capital.
- Plays a key role in change management efforts, process improvement and driving efficiencies, and consistencies across a defined section of Customer Group vendors.
- Plays an active role in the identification and retention of talent within the Integrated Business Planning organization. Leads coaching and development initiatives for Associates within Integrated Planning.
- Responsible for ensuring working capital management is successful in achieving corporate objectives in the Customer Group area assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Project Management, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field from accredited institution preferred
- Five (5) years minimum experience in various areas of Integrated Planning and/or direct business leadership experience is highly preferred to perform at expectations.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to function optimally without daily oversight from management
- Experience with project management, business intelligence and automation tools such as: SmartSheet, PowerBI, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
- Requires strong interpersonal and consulting skills
- Strong organizational, planning, presentation and follow-up skills
- Good business acumen and high integrity
- Proven attention to detail coupled with interpersonal skills
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multitasking skills needed, including the ability to balance multiple, urgent requests
- Self-starter, creative problem solver, and self-sufficient
- Open to travel (including overnights) as needed

Pay Range:

$9,225.00 - $15,033.70-
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
