The Audit Managing Director - Quality Control - Real Estate plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and overall quality of our firm's accounting and assurance services within the real estate industry. This position involves designing, implementing, and overseeing a robust quality control framework that aligns with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and the firm's internal policies. Reporting directly to the Partner in Charge of Quality Control, this role carries significant responsibility in maintaining our service standards. This position has the option to be fully remote or sit in any of our U.S. locations.
Responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive quality control framework to assess the effectiveness of accounting and assurance policies and procedures through engagement quality control reviews.
- Design and implement policies and procedures that adhere to professional standards, regulatory requirements, and the firm's quality control objectives.
- Educate assurance professionals on quality control standards, best practices, and emerging trends through programs and initiatives.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to a large team of quality management directors to ensure continuous improvement in the quality of work.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern or improvement within the firm's accounting and assurance policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Offices of Independence and Risk to develop strategies to mitigate risks and overall quality enhancement.
- Stay abreast of changes in auditing and accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Lead and monitoring inspection processes such as AICPA peer review and OIG.
- Ensure the firm's practices remain in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards of the AICPA, GAO and other regulatory bodies.
- Participate in technical due diligence activities when evaluating potential accounting firm acquisition targets.
- Consult with engagement teams to address client-specific accounting and financial reporting issues.
- Collaborate with the Firm's Accounting Principles Group to ensure deliverables meet the highest quality standards.
- Foster a culture of internal client satisfaction and continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Prepare and present reports to Senior Management summarizing quality control assessments, findings, and recommendations.
- Monitor compliance with professional licensing and continuing professional education requirements.
- Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in quality control processes and procedures.
- Proactively seeking feedback from internal and external stakeholders to identify areas for enhancement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Extensive experience in accounting and auditing, with a proven progressive history in quality control roles
- In-depth knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, industry best practices, and regulations (with an emphasis on the real estate industry)
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and strategic thinking in quality control processes
- Proven experience in designing and implementing quality control frameworks
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Possess strong communication and leadership skills
