About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Indigenous Policy and Programs, this role supports the implementation of the AMC’s Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Māori Strategy across all business areas. You’ll work closely with the Indigenous Policy and Programs team, the AMC executive, Accreditation functions of the AMC and the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Māori Committee to embed cultural safety and self-determination into AMC operations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting strategic implementation of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Māori Strategy across AMC business areas
  • Coordinating consultations with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Māori communities, leaders, organisations, and consumers
  • Assisting with major project deliverables and strategic goals
  • Facilitating internal communications and cultural safety learning events
  • Managing a central information space and producing fortnightly cultural updates for staff
  • Organising yarning circles, education sessions, and culturally safe spaces at AMC events
  • Supporting policy development, stakeholder engagement, and project tracking
  • Contributing to workshops, meetings, and initiatives that reflect AMC’s values of fairness, cultural safety, and self-determination
  • Other projects as determined by the team

About You

You are a values-driven professional with a passion for cultural safety and stakeholder engagement. You bring:

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Knowledge of medical education systems for Medical Doctors in Australia
  • Experience working in high-performing teams with minimal direction
  • Proven experience in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Māori stakeholder engagement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in policy contexts
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines
  • Skilled in meeting, workshop, and event coordination
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility for interstate travel and occasional extended hours
  • Experience in policy writing and development (desirable)
  • Ability to synthesise qualitative and/or quantitative data for reports (desirable)
  • Familiarity with project management tools, Zoom, MS Teams, and Canva (desirable)
