Your team and your role

We’re looking for a new team member who will be responsible for leveraging data to drive business decisions. You'll be involved in the entire data science pipeline from exploration and modelling to experimentation and deployment. We need a Senior Python Engineer who can combine an understanding of our data and appropriate tools, to produce robust solutions to problems that matter to our clients.

You’ll be working in our Engineering community within the Data Experience Team, working closely with Product and other engineers reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Design, develop, and maintain the core engine that powers our products, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability

Write high-quality, maintainable code that is well-documented and tested (we are fans of TDD)

Extensive collaboration with other engineers, including pair-programming and mob programming

Ensure the codebase follows best practices for software development, such as using appropriate design patterns, writing clean and modular code, and ensuring the codebase is easy to understand and maintain

Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other engineers on their code

Work closely with the Product team to translate product requirements into technical specifications

Collaborate with other internal teams to develop software that meets the needs of the business and our customers

Contribute to the technical direction of the team and provide ideas and input on architectural decisions

Your Skills

Strong experience in an engineering environment, with a focus on building complex, scalable, and performant systems

Extensive experience building complex applications in Python

Strong knowledge of modern frameworks (e.g., Django, FastAPI, Flask)

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure) and scalable architectures

Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and distributed systems

Experience with modern AI applications, prompt engineering and Large Language Models (LLMs)

Good understanding of algorithms and data structures.

Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Image Processing

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and data to diverse audiences

Proven experience in guiding and mentoring other engineers

Thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous start-up environment, driving the delivery of software engineering solutions that are both innovative and tightly aligned with commercial goals

The role spans looking after mature products, working on current research into new products, through to coming up with new ideas for how to make our data useful for external and internal customers.

C#, React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, .NET Core, Azure DevOps, RESTful APIs, Distributed Systems, Asynchronous Services, Distributed Storage, Azure Tables, SQL Server and Cosmos, Redis, xUnit and Terraform
