The Opportunity

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Handyman to join our Facilities team at the West Perth Campus. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance and repairs, supporting events and departmental setups, and coordinating with contractors when required. Your work will directly contribute to creating a safe and welcoming campus experience for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and repairs including carpentry, painting, plastering, plumbing, and basic electrical work.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and resolve maintenance needs.
  • Assemble, install, or repair furniture, fixtures, and appliances.
  • Support event setups, graduations, and departmental logistics including office and classroom moves.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards and maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Liaise with external contractors and oversee their work where required.

About You

  • Proven experience in general maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical work.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Current driver’s licence (preferred).
  • Trade qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Physically fit with the ability to safely lift and carry equipment.
