The Position

In the Immunology Therapeutic Area, we are developing cutting edge therapies to treat inflammatory diseases. You will be part of a highly collaborative, international group of research associates and scientists that are developing medicines for the future.

We're currently looking for a diligent research associate to develop, validate and apply in vitro biochemical, cellular and complex 3D assay systems to the study of mucosal immunology and nephrology.

The Opportunity

  • Collaboratively designing, executing, and interpreting in vitro studies for the validation and characterization of targets or therapeutic agents in the area of immune mediated inflammatory diseases and nephrology
  • Developing, validating and applying novel in vitro systems (incl. microphysiological systems, organoids) for the discovery and validation of new novel therapeutic agents
  • Applying state-of-the-art analytical and imaging technologies (e.g. confocal & live cell imaging) to the analysis of in vitro test systems
  • Performing immunology and molecular biology experiments using primary, patient-derived material. Techniques include primary cell isolation, phenotyping, cell activation assessment, cytokine detection, qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, cell transfection, and generation KO cells using genome editing techniques
  • Handling large experimental data sets by collecting, organizing and communicating information effectively
  • Working collaboratively in a matrix research environment

Who You Are

  • You hold an MSc/BSc in Life Sciences (cellular/molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology) or have completed a research associate apprenticeship with ≥4 years of industry experience in experimental immunology.
  • You have hands-on experience isolating and cultivating primary immune cells and performing immunological assays such as ELISA.
  • You are skilled in complex analytical and imaging technologies, including confocal and live-cell imaging, and in analyzing and interpreting experimental data.
  • You are familiar with database management, automation, and tissue-based techniques (e.g., histochemistry), and you can adapt to new experimental systems.
  • You have experience developing, validating, and applying complex in vitro models, including organoids, ideally in mucosal immunology or nephrology.
  • You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
  • You are organized and meticulous in data management, record-keeping, and data analysis, with knowledge of Python or similar tools.
