Summary:

The Department of Engineering & Technology at East Texas A&M University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering position, beginning Fall 2026. Faculty at East Texas A&M University are expected to engage in scholarly research, pursue external funding, contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community, and advise students. Successful candidates will teach across a wide range of Industrial Engineering, Technology Management, and related engineering courses. Candidates are expected to demonstrate current professional knowledge in industrial engineering, and related fields.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses for the B.S. Industrial Engineering, and B.A.A.S. Technology Management programs, including but not limited to:
  • Develop and maintain a productive research program, disseminating results through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Actively pursue extramural funding and establish industry partnerships.
  • Build networks within regional industries to strengthen collaboration and student opportunities.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in Industrial Engineering.
  • Engage in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement, including ABET accreditation activities, and Institutional Effectiveness.
  • Human Factors, Simulation, Operations Research, Facilities Planning, Manufacturing Support Systems, Quality Management, Leadership, and Project Management.
  • Technology Management courses such as Strategic Planning, Organizational Leadership, and Innovation Management.
  • Common engineering courses such as introduction to engineering and technology, product design and Development, CAD Drawings, Engineering Economics, Probability and Statistics, and introductory computing courses.
  • Work cooperatively with departmental colleagues and serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Participate fully in departmental activities and contribute to outreach and student recruitment initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: A Ph.D. degree from an  ABET accredited U.S. institution of higher learning with a major field of study in industrial engineering, or very a closely related discipline.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications:

  • Ability to teach a wide range of Industrial Engineering and common engineering courses.
  • Physical Requirements: N/A
  • Prior relevant industry experience
  • Evidence of research productivity, such as accepted grant proposals and/or awarded patents
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education
  • Experience with online course development and instruction
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of ABET accreditation
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills

Salary: The anticipated annual salary for this position is $80,000 to $82,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
