Position Title: Early Childhood Teacher - Phoenix Day Program
Job Summary:
This role supports classroom education and lesson planning, promotes healthy habits, and ensures children’s developmental, emotional, and physical needs are met. Teachers build strong relationships with families, collaborate with staff and volunteers, and maintain compliance with program and licensing standards through documentation, assessments, and daily care routines.
Hourly Pay: $17.50
Schedule: Monday – Friday; 9:30 AM – 6 PM
Classroom: Infant/ Toddler
Location: Phoenix, AZ
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Educate, supervise and care of children
• Ensure the safety of children at all times
• Assist in planning and preparing the environment and activities for children
• Assist with classroom education, assessments, and lesson planning
• Work directly with children in an instruction setting
• Clean up, diapering, potty-training of children – if age appropriate
• Serve meals and drinks to children
• Teach children healthy personal habits
• Assist in sanitizing of classroom, classroom materials, etc.
• Prepare daily reports, health checks and other documentation as required by the Phoenix Day program and other agencies CACFP, ADHS, etc.
• Establish and maintain a rapport with parents
• Welcome and work with visitors and volunteers
• Attain a minimum 20 hours of training in required categories per ADHS, NAC, and Quality First!
• Attend quarterly all-staff meetings and promotional events
• Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by Phoenix Day
• Other duties as required
Required Orientation
Our New Hire Orientation takes place during your first week of employment:
Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM–5:00 PM | HR Campus in Mesa, AZ
Early release may be granted upon completion of all orientation requirements. Please note: orientation is not available during evenings or weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• High School Diploma or GED, required
• Completed mandatory six DES Health and Safety modules or equivalent, documented on the training and education log on the AZ Early Childhood Workforce Registry
Experience:
• At least 6 months experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or early education center, required
• In the process of attaining CDA or AA degree in Early Childhood Experience, preferred
Compliance/Requirements:
• Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation
• Current Auto Liability Insurance
• 39 Month Motor Vehicle Record
