Our client is prominent in the shipping and logistics industry, providing core services in air freight, sea freight, customs clearance/port operations, haulage/trucking, oil and gas logistics, marine logistics, and protocol services.
We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Business Development Officer to join our team. In this role, you will support the Sales & Business Development Manager in expanding our client base, driving revenue growth, and strengthening our presence in the highly competitive logistics and freight forwarding industry.
As a Business Development Officer specialising in Freight Forwarding, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and establishing new business opportunities for our company in the highly competitive logistics and transportation industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to gain hands-on experience and build industry expertise.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Prospecting And Lead Generation:
- Identify and target potential clients through market research, industry analysis, and networking.
- Generate high-quality leads through outbound calls, emails, and meetings.
Client Acquisition:
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects.
- Conduct in-depth needs analysis to understand client requirements and offer tailored logistics solutions.
- Prepare and present compelling proposals and quotations.
Client Relationship Management:
- Nurture and maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, addressing their concerns and resolving issues promptly.
Market Intelligence:
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
- Provide insights and recommendations to the management team based on market research.
Revenue Growth:
- Meet and exceed sales targets and revenue goals.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within the client portfolio.
Collaboration And Teamwork:
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and strategies.
Reporting And Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, client interactions, and opportunities in CRM systems.
- Prepare regular reports on sales performance and forecasts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, or related field.
- Proven sales and business development track record, with at least 5 years of experience in the freight forwarding industry
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, shipping, logistics, or B2B sales.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with international trade, logistics operations, or supply chain basics (knowledge of INCOTERMS is an advantage).
