The Regional Demand & Supply organization is a regional team leading the strategy and management of Supply Chain at country and Region level, and acting as strategic partners to regional commercial leaders driving the forecasting and demand planning processes.

  • Job description: In-Market Supply Chain Senior Planner, Innovative Medicines Supply Chain, Johnson & Johnson
  • Location: Milan, Italy
  • Contract: full time, permanent

Key Responsibilities

Supply Network Planning: The role encompasses handling forecast and replenishment for the Italian market from the European Distribution Center (EDC) to the local Satellite Distribution Center (SDC) for approximately 130 SKUs. It includes a weekly check and update of the PCT05 to ensure a balanced level of inventory. The planner plans timely and cost-effective supply based on the product life cycle stage and market demand variation while also handling, planning, and initiating import and export licenses for the full narcotic portfolio. This involves monitoring the expiry dates of the licenses as well as managing the new artwork implementation planning and shelf-life planning.

Proactively, the planner alerts the local company and EMEA region about critical issues or potential supply chain disruptions, follows up with corrective actions, and reports and explains stock-outs. Communication with manufacturing sites is crucial to ensure an uninterrupted supply to the markets. Weekly shipping schedules are developed, and delivery notes for Italy are created. Additionally, the role supports, and implements plans for New Product Introduction and collaborates with Distribution and Transportation within the Deliver team to optimize inventory levels at the satellite distribution center. Support is also provided in proposing and driving plans for product portfolio rationalization.

Collaboration with customer service, commercial, and pricing teams is critical to find solutions for increasing sales, particularly where there is excess stock, to avoid Slow Moving and Obsolete inventory (SLOB) and destructions. If needed, the role initiates repackaging to reduce destructions due to artwork, thus aiding SLOB avoidance. Maintaining Master Data Planning Parameters for ERP (SAP) and Planning System (OMP) is part of the responsibilities, along with monitoring critical metrics for the product portfolio and proposing and implementing corrective actions. Lastly, the position requires acting in compliance with Johnson & Johnson policies regarding trainings and travel and Expenses guidelines.

Integrated Business Planning (IBP): the planner drives the Integrated Business Planning meetings with Commercial, Finance Controllers, and Business Intelligence to align the Consensus Demand Forecast, risks, opportunities, and financial plans. They also orchestrate the Integrated Reconciliation meetings with the Italian Local Operating Company board members to review gaps between finance, consensus demand forecast, and business targets. This includes discussing business assumptions with expressed risks and opportunities in units, net sales, and gross profit, as well as agreeing on how to close gaps and handle SKU mix issues.

Furthermore, the planner provides insight into the EMEA monthly IBP cycle regarding market scenarios, business assumptions, risks, and opportunities. In the end-to-end (E2E) process, they act as the orchestrator of the On Time and In Full (OTIF-D) process, working closely with customer service, Distribution & Transportation, and Commercial Quality.
