Join our Global Real Estate team as the Head of Engineering Operations for the JPMorganChase Global Headquarters at 270 Park Avenue.
As the Head of Engineering Operations within the Global Real Estate (GRE) team, you will oversee all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations at the JPMorgan Chase Global Headquarters and future Midtown Campus. You will ensure the building’s infrastructure, systems, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate with property management to deliver exceptional service to occupants and stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
- Direct, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage the daily operation and maintenance of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, elevators, and Building Management Systems (BMS), ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Design and implement comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure all engineering activities and building systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Lead capital improvement projects, renovations, and system upgrades from planning through execution, managing budgets, timelines, and contractor performance.
- Monitor energy consumption and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and sustainability, including tracking usage, reducing waste, and supporting green building practices.
- Maintain accurate records for inspections, certifications, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance, preparing reports for management and stakeholders as needed.
- Select, negotiate with, and oversee external vendors and service providers, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to contract terms.
- Work closely with property management, occupants, and other stakeholders to address engineering-related concerns and deliver excellent service.
- Develop, update, and execute emergency response plans for engineering systems, leading the team during building emergencies, outages, or critical incidents.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 10+ years in building engineering, facilities management, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role overseeing large teams and complex operations.
- In-depth understanding of commercial building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, elevators, and BMS, as well as relevant codes and regulations.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor oversight.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities for effective team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and reporting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and other relevant engineering technologies.
