This role will identify, nurture, and commercialize groundbreaking innovations from within our academic medical center. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of scientific knowledge, business acumen, and a passion for translating research into real-world impact. This role will involve working with a diverse group of physicians, scientists, and researchers to advance early-stage technologies and discoveries.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • EducationBachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline) is required.
  • Experience3 years experience in technology commercialization, venture capital, business development, or innovation management, preferably within the life sciences or healthcare sector. Proven experience in managing a portfolio of early-stage technologies and assets. Familiarity with the academic research environment and the process of intellectual property protection and licensing is a must.
Preferred
  • Education An advanced degree (e.g., Ph.D., MBA, or JD) is highly preferred.

JOB DUTIES
  • Actively scout and identify early-stage assets, technologies, and intellectual property from across the academic medical center's departments, labs, and clinics. Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, researchers, and clinicians.
  • Manage a portfolio and pipeline of innovation assets, from initial discovery and evaluation through to commercialization readiness. This includes due diligence, market analysis, and assessing technical feasibility.
  • Advise researchers and inventors on the commercial potential of their work, helping to define and refine their projects to align with market needs and strategic goals.
  • Serve as a liaison between researchers, the technology transfer office, industry partners, and investors. Facilitate the creation of project plans, secure funding, and navigate the path to market.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new programs and initiatives within the Innovation Hub designed to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the innovation pipeline, including new discoveries, patents filed, licenses executed, and spin-out companies.
