Boeing Poland is currently seeking a Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) Engineering Manager to join our team in Boeing Engineering Center in Rzeszow, Poland.

As a BDS Engineering Manager you will be leading a team (up to 20 people) of engineers involved in the design and product definition of airframe components and sub-systems designed, manufactured and supported in service by Boeing. You will be responsible for recruitment, securing and developing competencies in the team, supervising training, personal and professional development of employees, and achieving engineering deliverables on time and on budget.

Project planning, monitoring and reporting of work will be supported by the technical leaders. Additional scope of work may include production support, electrical systems or mechanical systems engineering, The most desirable skills are related with people leadership and management in a global engineering organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Developing project plans, directing all project phases, and acting as primary customer contact for project activities
  • Effectively communicating project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Implementing policies and procedures and setting operational goals
  • Acquiring resources for projects and processes coordinating the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serving as a liaison between project and team, finance, sourcing, and scheduling
  • Developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports
  • Managing via project deliverables, all technical and functional staff assigned to the project
  • Using Boeing Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) to develop a robust operating and reporting rhythm for programs to ensure a successful outcome
  • Identifying and managing actively opportunities, risks, and issues to ensure effective resolution or mitigation, and coordinating required activities to ensure successful delivery
  • Delegating tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Identifying and resolving issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Identifying and managing project dependencies and the associated critical path(s)
  • Planning, scheduling and managing project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Tracking and reporting project status relative to the approved business case and scope, with transparency and insight into the overall health of the project
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Determining the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyzing results and investigating problem areas
  • Proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying potential crises, and devising contingency plans
  • Defining project success criteria and disseminating them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle
  • Effectively running project meetings from project kick-off to post-implementation review ensuring all stakeholders meet their responsibilities
  • Providing oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes
  • Managing, developing, and motivating employees (including contractors)
  • Maintaining, developing, and supporting relations with Institute of Aviation, helping Warsaw site leadership team

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

  • Export Control Requirements: This is an export control position. Meaning:
  • 1) Position may be export controlled
  • 2) Government authorization may be required
  • 3) Employment contingent upon meeting trade control requirements 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Upper Intermediate English

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace and/or engineering
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams in a formal and /or informal leadership role
  • Extensive Project Management experience
  • Highly competent in using MS Office products in general

​Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience with mechanical design engineering and/or structural capability assessment
  • 2+ years of experience with working military projects
  • 2+ years of experience in technical leadership

Additional Requirement:

The individual will be required to obtain clearance for work under military concession (regulated by act of 13 June 2019 on conducting business activities in the field of manufacturing and trading in explosives, weapons, ammunition and products and technology for military or police purposes).
