As a Senior System Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing both our on-prem and cloud environments (AWS/Azure).  This role requires a strong foundation in systems engineering while leveraging cloud technologies to enhance infrastructure efficiency, scalability, and reliability.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Perform troubleshooting, patching, system builds, and general administration.
  • Implement, monitor, operate, and optimize on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure systems to ensure reliability.
  • Respond to and remediate alerts after-hours as required.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions in AWS and Azure.
  • Migrate on-prem workloads to the cloud, ensuring performance, compliance, and cost efficiency.
  • Work closely with information security to remediate vulnerabilities as identified.
  • Ensure compliance with financial industry regulations (FINRA, etc.).
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Proactive approach to identifying innovative solutions for infrastructure and architecture challenges.
  • Collaborate with various teams including, developers, IT, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand business initiatives and priorities while meeting deadlines.

Required Education And Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience managing VMware/vCenter infrastructure.
  • Experience designing and maintaining backup, disaster recovery, and high availability systems.
  • Strong experience with Windows/Linux server administration including patching, hardening, and tuning.
  • Strong experience with Active Directory Administration.
  • Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of implementing access to systems using principles of least privilege.
  • Proven ability to lead highly technical projects and mentor junior staff.
  • Advanced diagnostic skills to resolve complex system and application issues quickly and efficiently.

Preferred Education And Experience:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience managing VMware/vCenter infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud content management systems such as Box, ShareFile, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, security, IAM, and compliance in on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and integration with on-prem infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with monitoring tools such as PRTG.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills to align IT initiatives with business goals.
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and intake initiatives across departments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and documentation.
  • Experience formalizing IT functions into structured services.
