Hatchery Quality Assurance

Full Time - Hourly

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package.  The base hiring pay for this role is $20.75 per hour. 

  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Purpose

To carry out all assigned work for your shift as it relates to general QA/QC

Job Responsibilities

  • Candle eggs for fertility
  • Make medicine for sprayer and cleaning up the sprayer and medicine room when done.
  • As trained and assigned, perform all sanitation and cleaning tasks as needed and requested by the Hatchery Supervisor.
  • Take swabs for QA purposes, including plates.
  • Continually meet all Hatchery sanitation/isolation policies and procedures through attended training and employee meetings.
  • Continually meet all training, certification, and job related safety requirements as deemed necessary.
  • Perform assigned duties as required by Hatchery Supervisor.  This may include padding poult boxes, cardboard poult box fabrication, traying and/or packing eggs, loading and unloading poults, and other duties deemed necessary to the operation of the hatchery.
  • Assist in providing a safe working environment for fellow team members through daily inspections and employee involvement.
  • Able to perform other duties as prescribed by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to learn, understand, and carry out all Hatchery practices.
  • Able to abide by strict bio-security guidelines
  • Able to work with live turkey poults frequently.
  • Able to perform math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. from floor to waist height occasionally.
  • No restrictions grasping, pinching repeatedly with both hands, hand coordination to rotate wrists & manipulate poults with fingers & thumbs of both hands
  • Able to work in a standing position frequently.
  • Able to be mobile on wet surfaces occasionally.
  • Able to work with approved cleaning and sanitizing solutions occasionally.
  • Work independently with limited guidance
  • Able to work in temperatures of 98 degrees occasionally.
