Formulation Specialist (GMP) – Freelance/Contract

About This Role

TFS HealthScience is a global, mid-size Contract Research Organization (CRO) that supports biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies throughout their entire clinical development journey. Our expertise covers full-service clinical research, resourcing, and Functional Service Provider (FSP) solutions.

The Formulation Specialist (GMP) will be responsible for developing and optimizing product formulations, ensuring compliance with GMP standards, and supporting the transition from laboratory development to large-scale production. This role combines hands-on laboratory work with cross-functional collaboration to bring high-quality products to market.

As part of our SRS/FSP team, you will work exclusively with one of our global pharmaceutical partners, a leading innovator in product development and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, test, and refine new product formulations with a focus on stability, efficacy, and manufacturability.
• Ensure all formulation activities, experiments, and SOPs comply with GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain precise and compliant documentation of laboratory experiments and project data.
• Evaluate and manage raw materials, ingredients, and suppliers to ensure quality and consistency.
• Conduct stability studies and implement protocols to assess product shelf life and performance.
• Partner with process engineers and manufacturing teams to scale up formulations into pilot and commercial batches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in formulation chemistry, product development, or R&D.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with GMP regulations.
• Skilled in analytical testing, data interpretation, and technical documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
