What you will be doing in this role
We are seeking an experienced Legal, Claims and Risk Lead to play a crucial role in managing clinical and corporate risk, claims management, mitigating liability, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on our organisation and contribute to the safety and well-being of our patients and staff.
In this role, you’ll help safeguard our legal, risk, and compliance operations by supporting risk management systems, overseeing critical legal documentation, and assisting with medico-legal processes. You'll ensure the organisation meets legal and regulatory requirements, while fostering a culture of safety and compliance and ensure robust risk management frameworks are in place. As the key liaison between internal teams and external legal partners, you’ll assist with claims management and medicolegal support.
Who we’re looking for
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will bring:
- A solid understanding of medical terminology, healthcare liability legislation, and regulatory requirements, with experience in a similar Legal or Risk Management role.
- Familiarity with claims management, litigation process and risk management systems, and experience working on multiple complex matters simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and handle stressful situations effectively.
- Exceptional written, organisational, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with incident management reporting tools such as Riskman or IMS+ highly desirable
- Strong negotiation and interpretive skills.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in law, business, or risk management is highly desirable.
