Job Description

Position Summary:

The Edge & Data Commercial Engineer has and shows a diverse set of technical knowledge, and experience with Edge to Cloud and Native SaaS applications system design by applying multiple products / technologies together into an overall application. You will be a core enabler of the Autonomous Automation / Software-defined Automation initiative in Asia Pacific, accelerating adoption of containerized Edge solutions, AI / ML applications, advanced data analytics, Industrial DataOps, etc. across sub‑regions. You will work with our Marketing, Sales, and Engineering organizations to allow our customers' successful implementation of their systems using Rockwell Automation products.

We are looking for candidates who have application engineering expertise and can collaborate with teams across varied geographic locations and organizational structures.. The position will require travel up to 35%, to support overall goals such as trade shows, training, and customer visits.

You will work in a hybrid model from one of the these locations: Gurgaon, Pune, or Bangalore and will report to Director, SWC AP

Your Responsibilities:

• Maintain personal technical expertise and commercial knowledge of Rockwell Automation Smart Process products and industrial automation environments and applications
• Be a Asia Pacific regional technical expert to support marketing and sales organizations in pre-sales customer engagements including system architecture reviews, proof of concepts, and recommendations.
• Prepare technical documentation, presentations, webinars, videos, and other tools to improve Salesforce and domain expert effectiveness in system-oriented topics
• Support trade shows through the creation of presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on labs
• Conduct customer demonstrations remotely and in Customer Solution and Experience Centers
• Build data‑driven business cases and write commercial justifications for offer enhancements, analyse pipeline, win–loss, attach, and usage data to identify product/offer gaps and measure impact.
• Present qualitative and quantitative value of the proposed solutions edge to cloud and conduct consultative exploratory pre-sales technology workshops to customers, SI and other regional domain experts.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience with control system design and supporting customer applications.
• ·Ability to Operate across time zones; triage ambiguous problems, propose options with trade‑offs, and lead decisions to keep opportunities moving.
• Familiar with main containerized solutions such as Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins
• Proficient in JavaScript (or VBScript/ASP), C#, and other Web-related development technologies (Java, HTML, servlets, XML, and Webservices API)
• Understanding of PI Historian, InfluxDB, In-SQL RDBMS concepts and proficient in SQL, PostgreSQL, Industrial DataOps solutions – Cognite / FTDM SaaS.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

• Preferably Software Industry Experience with other technology expertise on Microsoft Azure, Power BI, Kubernetes, Cognite
• Communicate with customer IT representatives to understand customer IT infrastructure and policies and to present solutions that fit into customer IT /OT environment
• Experience with FactoryTalk Optix, Optix Edge, Embedded Edge, Industrial AI applications – Guardian AI, Logix AI, Vision AI, FactoryTalk DataMosaix.
• Knowledge of Rockwell Automation main products, including PLCs, Motor Control, Operator Interface, Networking / Communication, Information Software, Safety and I/O.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure or virtualization software is a plus.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.
• Capable to lead projects and/or project teams.
