The Design Development Intern (DDI) supports the Design Development Manager in initial site plan layout and analysis, design drawing review, and provides support functions on projects.
The DDI is a creative problem solver, critical thinker, and keen analyzer. In its supporting role of the design team activities of the company, the DDI works with various Milhaus Departments and third-party consultants.
Essential Position Functions
- Provide support to Design Development Manager and Design Team as a whole
- Support and manage various design team operation processes
- Assist in drawing review, tracking action items, and Milhaus Building Standard implementation for projects
- Analysis of properties and evaluating market/design trends
- Assist in Milhaus Building Standards updates
- Initial site plan massing/evaluation assistance as needed
- Assist in generating RFP’s and evaluating consultant proposals
- Attend design coordination meetings as requested
- Compile meeting notes and markups as requested
- Responds in a timely fashion to questions, correspondence, e-mails and phone requests from clients, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agency personnel (management of multiple of multiple project and hierarchy of responsibilities).

Education And Qualifications

- Pursuing a bachelors or masters degree; ideally specializing in Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Design, Construction Management, or Urban Planning is required
- Must have a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must have excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Milhaus’s services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
- Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, Sketchup, Bluebeam etc.), is required.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret design drawings and technical documents.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to create presentations, documents, and reports.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and staff.
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively before staff.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
