Ob Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Linux Systems Engineer to manage patching, change control, and incident response across enterprise Linux environments. This role ensures system stability, security compliance, and operational continuity through structured ITIL-based processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Patching & Vulnerability Management:

  • Perform regular patching of Linux systems using tools like BigFix, SCCM, or Ansible.
  • Monitor patch compliance and generate reports on effectiveness and coverage.
  • Escalate unresolved patching issues to L2/L3 support teams.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts.

Change Management:

  • Raise and manage change requests in alignment with ITIL standards.
  • Coordinate with application and business owners for change approvals.
  • Ensure proper documentation and rollback plans for all changes.
  • Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings and reviews.

Incident Management:

  • Respond to and resolve Linux-related incidents within SLA timelines.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain incident logs and contribute to post-incident reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and impact.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Linux system administration.
  • Hands-on experience with patch management tools and vulnerability scanners (e.g., Qualys, Nessus).
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes for change and incident management.
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent.
  • ITIL Foundation or Practitioner.
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar security certification.
