What You'Ll Do...

Position: Senior Manager, Packaging 

Job Location: 702 SW 8th Street, Bentonville, AR, 72716 

Duties: Manages continuous improvement and packaging innovation by reviewing and analyzing internal processes to highlight opportunities for cost reductions and process efficiencies; developing and continually reviewing objectives that refine business processes to maximize end-to-end efficiency and customer value; keeping up-to-date on technology and packaging industry standards; managing packaging solutions and requirements to address innovation in distribution automation; and working upstream to reduce packaging issues by key stakeholders. Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance; accordingly, developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Manages packaging production by evaluating and appointing packaging resources based on production capabilities, geographic locations, quality control processes, innovation, equipment specifications, color management, and costs; analyzing key metrics; advising on industry standards of cost estimates and the employment of packaging suppliers; and leading cost negotiations in support of new and existing packaging elements. Manages and drives the development of packaging copy content for Walmart US private brands by collaborating with the design team and cross functional business partners to ensure consistency across the brand portfolio; managing, prioritizing, and assigning copy projects; managing and writing complex packaging content; and establishing the communication objectives and style for private label brands. Resolves issues with packaging content by identifying discrepancies; determining needed resources; collaborating with business partners to develop solutions; implementing solutions or contingency plans; and establishing work processes, best practices, and standards for the packaging team. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events. Manages teams in the development of external communications to ensure the consistent global execution of packaging specifications by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with Walmart standards; preparing presentations to communicate packaging direction; and posting of reference materials for the supplier community to the Walmart information system. 

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field and 4 years of experience in marketing, branding, packaging, retail, or related experience OR 6 years of experience in marketing, branding, packaging, retail, or related experience. 

Skills required: Must have experience with: Quantitative and strategic analyses to support company operations, product packaging development and/or fulfillment processes; Using basic coding - Big Query, Looker, etc. to assess large sets of data; Writing white papers/ docs that detail all the technical and business needs; Cause and Effect Analysis, FMEA and Risk Prioritization (RPN); Robotic system, packaging conveyance to assess risks of defects, developing packaging solution sets to reduce downtime events/ losses; Using designing Tools- ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, TOPS, etc; Using packaging material, printing and barcoding knowledge to guide suppliers on Quality Requirements; Test development designing to evaluate packaging performance across the supply chain; Leveraging hands on experience in testing packaging within the ISTA, SIOC and ASTM standards; Reporting on product improvement by providing data and validation, interpreting system KPIs that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, and related managerial functions; Designing automation eligibility testing for packaging by applying design principles and packaging design expertise across Healthcare, Beverage, Manufacturing, E-commerce industries.
