Summary

The Research Assistant I will help manage research projects in the Division of Cardiothoracic surgery. The research will focus on the translation of our gene therapies for heart failure.

Job Duties

  • • Performs responsible research work that involves preparing, conducting, planning, completing, and occasionally
  • supervising limited research projects, following general plans approved by the supervisor.
  • • Designs and conducts research experiments involving human subjects and tissues.
  • • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data from research projects.
  • • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for studies.
  • • Documents and interprets the results of experiments and reports to the principal investigator.
  • • Prepares IACUC and IRB protocols.
  • • Selects, evaluates, and determines appropriate research procedures.
  • • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • • Handling animals and perform cardiac surgeries.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or in a related field.
