Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Commis Chef to join our culinary team in Stevenage, United Kingdom. As a Commis Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

  • Assist in food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and seasoning ingredients
  • Follow recipes and chef's instructions to prepare menu items
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring proper use and cleanliness
  • Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food service
  • Learn and develop new culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs
  • Contribute to menu development and suggest creative ideas for dishes
  • Assist in plating and presentation of dishes
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning and sanitation procedures

Qualifications

  • Culinary school diploma or certificate preferred
  • Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) required
  • Basic culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques
  • Proficiency in operating standard kitchen equipment
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
