Job Description
This role will be based in Bangalore, India.

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
As part of our world-class software engineering team, you will be building the next-generation observability platforms for LinkedIn, including but not limited to: instrumenting applications and infrastructure to collect meaningful metrics, logs, and traces; Collaborate with development teams to ensure consistent and comprehensive instrumentation across all systems; Develop and maintain libraries, frameworks, and tools to simplify instrumentation. The Observability Experience (OE) group is charted to simplify and drive observability for LinkedIn. The Observability Platforms (sub team of OE) is responsible for billions of operational metrics ingested every minute within LinkedIn. The Observability Experience team builds and maintains the observability platform responsible for metrics, logs, and traces. We create intuitive UI visualizations and effective troubleshooting tools using React, Grafana, and Go. Our mission is to help engineers quickly understand system behavior, triage issues, and resolve incidents with confidence.
Responsibilities
- Work on both front-end and API layers for internal observability tools and applications - delivering incremental impact by driving innovation while iteratively building and shipping software at scale
- Work with a world class team of software and systems engineers building visualizations that provide innovative insights into the observability ecosystem of LinkedIn
- Effectively communicate with the team, partners and stakeholders. Collaborate with partners and internal customers to iterate and enhance current applications and features
- Develop & contribute to coding efforts, producing high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration
- Improve the observability and understandability of various systems with a focus on improving developer productivity and platform usability
- You will mentor other engineers, define our challenging technical culture, and help to build a fast-growing team
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of programming experience in a programming language such as Golang or Python
- Experience with Full Stack Web Development using JavaScript frameworks like React
- Experience with building APIs using programming languages like Golang/Python etc.
- Experience building web applications and services at scale
- Hands on experience developing large-scale observability experiences with a good understanding of distributed systems, microservice architecture etc.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership position
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters/PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in building infrastructure, working with data, and web services on a large scale
- Full-stack software engineering experience, including development of APIs
- Good knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript and React.js
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively articulate complex technical concepts
- Ability to navigate complex decision-making and effectively communicate across teams
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, leading and mentoring others in observability best practices
