Job Description
The Opportunity:
Mattel, Inc., the largest toy company in the world, is seeking a National Account Sales Manager to drive revenue and profitability by selling the most iconic toy brands in the industry to top retailers in the US.
The Sr. National Account Sales Manager will be directly responsible for developing and executing Strategic Account Plans for all brands within the Club channel and will require deep understanding of the retail environment and how to align our portfolio of products with the account needs. Their responsibility will include managing a direct report. A successful candidate will be hungry for growth, someone who challenges the status quo, and works strategically and collaboratively with internal and external business partners to achieve both Mattel and customer goals.
This position will be field-based and will require periodic travel to the accounts and corporate headquarters.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Deliver on planned business metrics including sales growth, margin and inventory targets for both Mattel and the customer.
- Align brands and customer vision by leading the cross-functional team to execute against the strategy and deliver on goals.
- Identify business opportunities and manage the sell-in process for exclusive product lines to drive results.
- Provide customer insights to internal teams that influence exclusive product development.
- Participate in and when applicable conduct global alignment meetings
- Create game-changing solutions within a constantly evolving retail environment.
- Lead multi-year strategic planning leveraging omni brand vision and priorities.
- Manage trade spend to plan promotional activations at account and drive sales.
- Excel at working collaboratively within customer team and other departments e.g. finance, supply chain, and marketing.
- Optimize and manage planogram item recommendations to drive productivity and grow space.
- Leverage marketing and brand priorities to secure feature out of aisle placement.
- Conduct weekly buyer meetings and periodic business reviews to strategically manage the business and execute against sales trends.
- Partner with respective internal teams to build monthly forecasts, support orders, and ensure customer’s requirements are met.
- Attend toy shows & previews and be knowledgeable of new product line architecture.
- Build strong relationships with account(s) buyers and internal partners
- Provide visibility and updates to leadership on risks, opportunities, and key performance indicators.
Qualifications
What We’Re Looking For:
- Proven track record of success in CPG or similar environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
- 10+ years of related sales or marketing experience
- Strategic visionary
- Effective selling & communication skills and confidence will be keys for success
- Goal oriented mindset to drive to our numbers
- Analytical horsepower with ability to use data to drive business decisions/recommendations
- Function as One Team to deliver results
- Ability to exert personal influence, build relationships with account(s), and collaborate effectively with functional teams and other key internal / external stakeholders
- Ability to make sound judgments while working under pressure
- Strong PC skills (Excel/Word/Power Point)
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Trade Marketing experience, including category management, site merchandising, and promotional planning
- Toy selling experience
- Experience working in Club Channel
- Talent management
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
*The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
