About The Role:
We are seeking an outstanding and driven individual to join the Single Cell Biology, Sample Preparation team as a Senior Research Associate 2. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques and a strong interest in building innovative products to solve complex biological problems. You should enjoy working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment alongside colleagues in Molecular/Cell Biology, Chemistry, Microfluidics, and Computational Biology. You will apply your expertise to support and optimize product development, including troubleshooting and evaluating new assays.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams throughout all stages of product development.
- Support the development and optimization of novel molecular biology assays for single-cell applications, including molecular barcoding, nucleic acid amplification, and NGS library preparation.
- Develop a deep understanding of the interplay between molecular biology, chemistry, and microfluidics, troubleshooting product deviations and identifying creative solutions.
- Plan and perform experiments, accurately document procedures, and analyze data with guidance.
- Communicate results clearly through documentation and presentations to inform critical design decisions.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- BS/MS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of hands-on experience in molecular biology in academic or industrial settings.
- Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques, including cell/tissue and sample preparation, nucleic acid purification (RNA/DNA), amplification, qPCR, and DNA sequencing.
- Experienced in NGS library preparation and familiar with data analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, and R.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and optimizing molecular biology assays and designing experiments to improve performance.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex datasets and communicate findings clearly and concisely.
- Knowledgeable in lab best practices, including avoiding nucleic acid cross-contamination and effective multichannel pipetting.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills; capable of performing complex, multi-step experiments with meticulous attention to planning, technique, and record keeping.
Additional Desirable Skills To Have:
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience with the product development lifecycle, including new product introduction and familiarity with formal product testing (e.g., verification and validation).
- Skilled in tissue handling techniques, including fresh frozen, FFPE, cryo-sectioning, and antigen retrieval, across various tissue types.
- Knowledge of NGS and related applications (e.g. RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, etc.) and familiarity with single-cell transcriptomics and next-generation sequencing library preparation workflows.
