We are seeking a highly experienced professional to lead our Property Facultative underwriting team and drive the growth of our Property and Power & Energy business across Southeast Asia and India.

This role is Head Property Facultative Southeast Asia and India and is based in Singapore.

About The Role

As Head Property Facultative Southeast Asia and India, you will be responsible for driving the profitable growth of our Property Facultative portfolio across these markets. This includes leading and developing teams, ensuring underwriting and operational excellence, formulating and executing go-to market strategies, strengthening client and broker relationships, originating business and maximizing renewal, and business planning and reporting. You will be working cross-functional teams and across boundaries in a multi-cultural and environment.

You will be accountable to achieve business plans and strategic & business goals, with performance measured against bottom-line growth.

  • Maintain a clear line of sight on submissions, underwriting appetite, line size and capacity deployment, accumulation management, risk assessment and selection, diligent costing, deal economics, and portfolio KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting standards, guidelines, and corporate governance; ensure effective monitoring mechanism and timely rectification actions.
  • Take part in hands-on deal underwriting for general property and power / energy risks; provide support on 4-eyes consultation and referrals.
  • Deliver a diversified, resilient, and sustainable portfolio aligned with strategic and financial goals.
  • Collaborate with the Global FAC Re Product Centre to steer the book in line with the target portfolio and strategies.
  • Identify and grow profitable opportunities and address underperforming segments.
  • Utilize data analytics to gain insights and optimize portfolio performance.

  • Conduct business planning, reporting, and projection.
  • Leverage Swiss Re's Facultative Underwriting Hub in India for support and integration with teams.
  • Swiss Re's innovative end-to-end global digital platform for small and medium industrial and commercial businesses.
  • Drive growth through expansion and penetration, portfolio steering and underwriting parameters setting, platform enhancements, innovation, and efficiency.
  • Lead and support initiatives for growth and efficiency.
  • Embed AI within the underwriting value chain and tools.

You will report directly to the Head P&C Facultative Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

About The Team

You will lead dynamic Property Facultative teams in Singapore and India, focusing on Property and Power & Energy lines across the diverse and fast-growing Southeast Asia and India markets. Our teams are energetic, collaborative, professional, and entrepreneurial, dedicated to excellence and innovation.

You will be part of the wider Asia Pacific P&C Facultative community, spanning Japan, Korea to Greater China, Southeast Asia, India and Australia and New Zealand. Together, we share the common vision of growing our facultative business across the region. The Asia Pacific P&C Facultative unit is part of Swiss Re's SID P&C Reinsurance Market Unit which is embedded within the global P&C Reinsurance division, the largest business unit of Swiss Re.

About You

  • Proven track record in business origination and production management.
  • Effective communication and negotiation; a team player and able to navigate in ambiguity in a multi-cultural and matrix corporate environment.
  • Good listener and problem solver; pragmatic and humble, effective in managing stakeholders and conflicts.
  • Excellent broker and client network, ideally in Asia, with effective market and sales management skills.
  • 15 years or above of re/insurance experience, preferably in Asia, with demonstrated success in growing and managing profitable Property portfolios.
  • Solid understanding of both primary and facultative business, deep expertise in Property lines, including General Property and Power / Energy lines.
  • Experience with Facilities, Portfolio underwriting, or automated platforms is an added advantage.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and execution capabilities.
  • Skilled in data analytics and portfolio management.
  • University or professional degree holder
