This role is an Australia-based, fully work-from-home position, with access to co-working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Job Description
We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Risk to join Montu and play a pivotal role in shaping how we identify, manage, and navigate risk across the organisation. This is an influential role where you’ll act as our subject matter expert in risk management, driving the development and implementation of our Enterprise Risk Management strategy and frameworks.
Your impact will be felt not only through strong governance and compliance but also by embedding a positive, proactive risk culture that supports Montu’s growth and operational resilience.
What You’Ll Do
Risk Strategy & Frameworks
- Design, implement, and continuously enhance risk management strategy, appetite statements, and frameworks.
- Embed risk into Montu’s strategic planning, tackling both current and emerging risks.
- Advise senior leaders on risk trends, mitigation approaches, and best practices.
- Build robust frameworks across financial, operational, strategic, and compliance risks.
- Develop scalable policies and tools to standardise risk practices across Montu.
- Lead assessments, deep dives, and project/change reviews, including fraud and third-party risk.
- Support operational resilience planning, including business continuity and crisis management.
- Contribute to the rollout of a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) system.
Reporting & Governance
- Implement centralised monitoring, reporting, and escalation processes.
- Prepare risk reports and build dashboards to track key metrics and appetite thresholds.
Training & Education
- Design and deliver training that builds risk awareness at every level of the business.
- Foster a culture where risk is seen as both a responsibility and an opportunity for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business, or a related discipline (Master’s or professional certification such as CRMP or FRM highly desirable).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in risk roles within highly regulated industries — ideally pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or insurance.
- Proven strategic thinker with a proactive and hands-on approach to risk management.
- Deep expertise in risk and control assessments, controls design, risk dashboards, and risk appetite embedment.
- Experience in risk software tools or Governance Risk and Compliance systems is highly regarded.
- Familiarity with Fraud, Third Party, and Business Continuity risk preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound decision-making capability.
- Confident self-starter who can lead in a dynamic, fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent project management, prioritisation, and coordination skills.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity and compliance.
