About Us MGT Insurance is modernizing the insurance industry with cutting-edge web technologies and user-centric design. We are seeking a Principal Agentic Engineer with deep expertise in AI agents, LLMs, and autonomous system architectures to join our engineering, data science, and insurance product teams in building the next generation of self-directed insurance platform capabilities.
Position Overview As a Principal Agentic Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated AI agent systems that can reason, plan, and execute complex insurance workflows autonomously. This role requires a combination of hands-on AI engineering, technical leadership, and strategic automation development to build intelligent agents that transform how our platform operates and serves customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Agentic System Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of multi-agent systems using LLMs, vector databases, and agent orchestration frameworks to create intelligent, goal-oriented automation.
- Reasoning & Planning Systems: Implement advanced reasoning capabilities including chain-of-thought processing, multi-step planning, and decision trees for complex insurance scenarios.
- Observability & Monitoring: Design comprehensive observability frameworks for agent systems including real-time performance metrics, decision tracing, and behavioral analytics to ensure full visibility into autonomous operations.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous testing strategies for agentic systems including unit testing for agent components, integration testing for multi-agent workflows, and adversarial testing for edge cases and failure modes.
- Regulatory Compliance & Governance: Establish comprehensive governance frameworks that ensure agent decision-making processes meet insurance regulatory requirements including audit trails, explainability standards, fair lending compliance, and state insurance commission oversight requirements.
Qualifications
- Expertise in LLMs and Agent Frameworks including OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar platforms for building autonomous AI systems.
- Strong software engineering background with proficiency in Python, TypeScript, and modern AI/ML deployment patterns including vector databases, embedding systems, and real-time inference.
- Experience with agent architecture patterns including ReAct, function calling, multi-agent coordination, and tool use frameworks for complex workflow automation.
Preferred Location Candidates based in Madison, Wisconsin, Denver, Colorado, or San Francisco, California are preferred to facilitate close collaboration with our team.
