What would you do as our Manufacturing Engineer?
You will provide technical and strategic support across our operations, focused on improving manufacturing methods, equipment, and processes. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure we are operating safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while upholding the highest standards of quality and performance. From line balancing to tooling design to Lean implementation, this is a highly visible, collaborative role where you can make a real difference.
You Would Also:
- Research, evaluate, and implement new processes, materials, fixtures, and tools to improve productivity and reduce cost.
- Develop, design, and document projects for tooling, fixtures, and production aids to support manufacturing efficiency.
- Troubleshoot production bottlenecks and quality concerns, conducting root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Identify and execute process improvements and Kaizen events to reduce scrap, downtime, and rework.
- Optimize manufacturing cells by applying Lean tools such as line balancing, standard work, material flow, and equipment utilization.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation, including manufacturing change requests, CAD illustrations, standard work instructions, and project records.
- Interact with maintenance, tool room, production, and engineering teams to align on priorities and resolve issues.
- Analyze data and metrics (e.g., takt time, cycle time, yield) to identify improvement opportunities in cost, quality, and delivery.
- Participate in R&D projects to assess product feasibility and support manufacturing readiness.
- Support compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality regulations, including ISO14001.
- Actively participate in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees
- Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct
The Skills and Experience you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial disciplines preferred) or equivalent technical training.
- 2–5 years of direct work experience in a manufacturing engineering environment (metal fabrication or door/building products a plus).
- Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or Pro-E required).
- Experience working with Lean Manufacturing principles and a track record of successful process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with press, stamping, tooling, CNC, spot and projection welding preferred.
- Strong analytical and mechanical ability to gather data and resolve technical problems.
- Demonstrated self-starter with excellent communication, reasoning, and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and general comfort working with engineering systems and data.
- Previous experience/exposure working within Metal Fabrication, Hollow Metal, Door or Building Materials industries are highly desirable
