Director of Optimization Services (Australia Remote)

As a Director of Optimization Services at Gurobi Optimization, you will be responsible for building and executing our Pathfinder initiative—a strategic program designed to showcase the value of mathematical optimization through expert-led proof-of-concepts (PoCs).  
Pathfinder is a cornerstone initiative that allows customers and prospects to experience the impact of optimization firsthand, while also demonstrating Gurobi’s deep expertise and thought leadership in this space. 
In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping the customer experience, helping organizations unlock the full potential of optimization, and ensuring that Gurobi remains the trusted partner for solving their most complex business challenges.
You will combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership, guiding the direction of Pathfinder and the Expert team responsible for delivering it. 

What Will You Be Doing?

• Own the end-to-end Pathfinder process, from scoping and resource allocation to delivery and post-analysis 
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Development to ensure Pathfinder outcomes align with strategic goals 
• Ensure Pathfinder initiatives are impactful, scalable, and contribute to customer success, retention, and product adoption 
• Refine and evolve the Pathfinder strategy into a repeatable, efficient, and comprehensive offering 
• Manage, coach, and inspire your team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement 
• Oversee team operations, including scheduling, workload balance, and meetings, to ensure smooth day-to-day management 
• Remove roadblocks and guide to maintain productivity, morale, and engagement within the team 
• Identify improvement areas and implement strategies to strengthen team capabilities and performance 
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Sales to align regional priorities with global initiatives 
• Contribute to technical documentation, internal knowledge bases, and learning resources to scale expertise across Gurobi 
• Support marketing and academic outreach efforts, particularly in the APJ region 
• Write technical articles for the Gurobi website and expand both internal and external knowledge resources 
• Develop compelling content for events, conferences, and training sessions that showcase Gurobi’s expertise 
• Represent Gurobi at technical conferences, webinars, and training events, highlighting new product capabilities 
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring that Pathfinder engagements deliver measurable value 
• Monitor team workload and act on customer feedback to continuously improve services and processes 
• Drive operational excellence by identifying workflow enhancements, cross-departmental efficiencies, and quality improvements 
• Identify and close gaps in Gurobi documentation, knowledge base, training materials, and modeling examples 
• Contribute to projects and initiatives that strengthen the Expert team and advance Gurobi’s strategic goals 

What Experience And Qualifications Should You Have?

• Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related field 
• 8+ years of experience in optimization or analytics consulting 
• 5+ years of people management experience, preferably in a global role 

What Skills And Abilities Should You Have?

• Proven track record of leading successful services projects and customer engagements 
• Strong understanding of optimization software, preferably including Gurobi’s solver engine, APIs, and deployment platforms 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills 
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first environment 
• Experience working in a global organization or with international customers 
• Familiarity with enterprise use cases of optimization across industries 
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues efficiently 
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken 
• Adaptability to evolving technologies, with an interest in cloud platforms  and infrastructure trends
