Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

The Strategic Programs team is responsible for managing large-scale, cross-functional product development efforts. Our mission is to lead complex, strategic initiatives to accelerate and improve product execution by creating leverage for Product Groups. The team strives to staff the highest and most critical company priorities across Coinbase. You will support scalability and reliability efforts to ensure our platform stays ahead of emerging traffic patterns and is able to sustain Critical User Journey performance in alignment with customer demand.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Drive the strategy and execution of large-scale infrastructure initiatives (scaling, security, automation) across cloud, networking, storage, and compute platforms, driving highly technical and cross-functional outcomes
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, security, and compliance teams to design and implement robust, scalable infrastructure strategies
  • Support and align SRE, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams in building and deploying highly available, fault-tolerant systems that meet performance and reliability goals
  • Define goals, establish alignment, and push execution across multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Own roadmap delivery, including adoption metrics and success criteria co-developed with stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (engineering, data science, product, compliance, legal, CX, etc.) to translate business requirements into actionable objectives
  • Oversee program documentation—requirements, milestones, prioritization, and communication artifacts
  • Develop and manage functional specifications, release plans, and program roadmaps
  • Continuously monitor progress, proactively identify risks/issues, and drive timely resolution through clear, succinct communication and collaboration

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 7+ years of technical program management experience in technology-first environments, with direct engagement in infrastructure programs
  • Background in software engineering or technical roles, providing the depth to partner effectively with engineering teams and evaluate technical trade-offs
  • Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and distill incomplete or conflicting inputs into actionable plans
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve alignment
  • Data-driven decision maker, leveraging metrics and analysis to guide prioritization and recommendations
  • Proven track record delivering global, cross-functional programs at scale
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority programs simultaneously while ensuring quality and timeliness

Nice To Haves:

  • Program or project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, CSM)
  • Prior exposure to cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies, with a demonstrated passion for the space
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace, JIRA, Looker, and SQL
