Job Description

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) is seeking a part time Market News Reporter in the Market Development Division. This position (PIN #04000823) is in state government, located in Tulsa, OK. The hourly pay for this position is up to $20.00 based on education and experience.

Position Description:   This position attends the cattle sale at the Tulsa Stockyards each Monday in order to evaluate sale offerings and prices. A USDA Market Report must be reported after each sale. This position will work each Monday for the duration of the sale or for a pre-negotiated period of time.

Typical Functions: Report market sales of cattle; evaluate sales offerings and prices then complete the USDA Market Report in a timely manner.

Education and Experience: Required are a high school diploma and at least one year of previous education or experience in an agricultural field.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities: Knowledge of livestock auctions and cattle grading required. Ability to work outside amongst various types of animals required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: This position may require working outdoors in an animal auction setting; walking short distances, sitting for long periods of time and climbing stairs.
