BBH is currently looking for an individual with the right caliber to join our dynamic Global Trustee & Depository Function in Hong Kong. In this key role, the individual will be responsible for operating independently as well as supporting the functional manager to deploy a holistic and effective oversight program with strong risk management and control measures imposed on the products and services. A high level of technical acumen and analytical skills would be expected in order to foster a solution orientated and consultative approach in performing our Trustee and Depository obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversight And Governance
- Oversee and monitoring of funds’ operations (e.g., daily cash flow monitoring, portfolio compliance etc.) to ensure the funds under administration is operated pursuant to fund documents, relevant Codes and Regulations.
- Issues and exceptions handling, escalation, coordination, solutioning and documentation.
- Identify and assess potential and actual risks in Trustee’s oversight framework and formulate / implement mitigation strategies and measures.
- Refresh, maintain and proceduralize critical internal control processes regarding Trustee’s oversight activities.
Client Onboarding and Business Implementation
- Conduct due diligence on clients and business delegates as part of new business implementation as well as ongoing measures.
- Review constitutive agreements and fund documents to ensure appropriate languages, clarity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Fund launch and liquidation planning, coordination and monitoring.
- Fund oversight controls setup, documentation and testing whereas applicable.
Preparation of Management / Client / Regulatory Reporting
- Prepare and review documentation for various stakeholders (including clients, management, internal control functions, regulators, internal and external auditors etc.)
Risk Management
- Escalate within the team any significant audit findings or issues, set direction / communicate proposed manner of resolutions
- Provide support to define, determine and implement controls corresponding to any applicable or new regulations.
- Prepare and review documentation for regulators and external auditors
- Interact with department heads regarding questions from regulators and external auditors
Relationship and Services Management
- Build Strong relationships with clients and have the knowledge and ability to explain the regulatory drivers behind any applicable requirements
- Provide enquiry support to clients, regulators, external auditors and/or BBH internal departments
- Maintain effective working relationships at relevant levels with other departments
- Develop and maintain peer relationships to share best practices
Qualifications And Requirements:
- 1. Education level and/ or experience
- 3. Knowledge and skills
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related subjects.
- 4 to 5 years’ experience working within the funds industry or relevant business line experience. Trustee experience preferrable.
2. Professional Qualification
- Required to be licensed or registered for Regulated Activity (RA) 13 which includes passing the relevant licensing examinations within reasonable timeframe.
- Strong analytical and presentation skills with ability to articulate complex and sensitive topics
- Remain acknowledgement about regulatory changes and up-to-dated with industry best practices.
- Proven technical or oversight skills and experience in regulated or authorized fund vehicles such as SFC authorized unit trust or OFC, UCITS, AIF investment funds etc.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems
- Strong communication skills both in verbal and written. English is required and Chinese is preferrable.
- Effective time management, ability to multi-tasks and operate under pressure towards deadlines and deliverables
- Display strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and equally demonstrating strong collaboration in a team environment
