Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

This is a highly visible and strategic opportunity for an accomplished talent & culture (human resources) leader to shape and deliver the global Talent & Culture strategy for the New Ventures division of Universal Destinations & Experiences.

The Vice President, Talent & Culture – New Ventures will be a trusted advisor and partner to the President, New Ventures and the New Ventures leadership team, providing guidance across the lifecycle of new business concepts and experiences, from feasibility to post-opening operations.

This role will lead due diligence and feasibility analysis from a Talent & Culture perspective; design and deliver talent strategies for new sites (including Universal Horror Unleashed (UHU), Universal Kids Resort (UKR), etc.), location-based entertainment experiences (LBE), and the central New Ventures team; oversee talent management for licensed operations; and oversee Talent & Culture leadership for New Ventures sites once operational.

The VP will also drive organizational design, talent acquisition and engagement strategies, talent-related technology, talent development, succession planning, inclusion initiatives, and leadership coaching across the division. This position reports to the SVP, Talent & Culture – Corporate Functions & Initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the President, New Ventures and the New Ventures leadership team to provide strategic Talent & Culture partnership and enablement.
  • Lead due diligence and feasibility analysis on new concepts and sites through a Talent & Culture lens, including workforce modeling and availability, organizational design, talent investment forecasting, labor strategies, leadership capability, and talent-related technology.
  • Partner with Legal, Government Relations, Real Estate Development, and Corp Communications teams to foster relationships with external stakeholders, interact with local government and community leaders, and identify negotiate, manage and track talent-related financial and tax incentives.
  • Design and implement comprehensive talent strategies for New Ventures (UHU, UKR, UUKR, LBE, and others).
  • Collaborate with UDX global and regional Talent & Culture leaders and NBCUniversal HR teams (Total Rewards, Talent & Organizational Development, Talent (HR) Operations, Legal, etc.) to deliver world-class talent solutions; develop metrics and predictive analytics to inform decision-making; and ensure efficient integration of talent-related policies, programs and technology.
  • Champion culture and role model brand ambassadorship in new markets, with new teams and throughout the operation of new ventures.
  • Partner with Corp Communications and Talent & Organizational Development to create and promote employer brand identity, talent acquisition, and early career strategies, programs and partnerships.
  • Oversee Talent & Culture leadership for New Ventures sites post-opening, including team member acquisition and on-boarding, engagement, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, inclusion, total rewards, compliance, and talent and performance management.
  • Oversee talent management for licensed operations and ensure alignment with UDX’s purpose, culture, and standards.
  • Coach and mentor the New Ventures Talent & Culture team; driving organizational effectiveness, culture-building, and high performance.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Supervises an Exempt team

Additional Information:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international), approximately 50%.
  • Ability to operate effectively across cultures, time zones and geographies.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours when required to support global operations.

Qualifications

What You'Ll Need:

  • 15+ years of professional HR experience, including prior experience in senior-level Talent & Culture (HR) leadership roles.
  • Experience supporting global businesses, including new market entries, start-ups, or large-scale expansions.
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives to successful completion.
  • Demonstrated success in organizational design, succession planning, leadership development, talent-related technology, and employee relations.
  • Experience managing or advising on licensed operations and/or joint ventures.

Education

  • Graduate degree in Human Resources, MBA, or related field and/or SPHR/SHRM certification preferred.
