Engineer Systems Administrators (ESA), Data Center Engineer supports operations team on a variety of projects related to the daily operations of a large-scale data center. They will also integrate and administrate existing; data center management technologies which work to improve services and meet business objectives.
Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description
“What would you say you do here?”
- Participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation responding to failure and alert event notifications
- Responds to incident management tickets related to the data center and its operations
- Work closely with other technology departments ats the “remote hands” for systems in the data center and networking closets
- Assist in the installation and upgrades of computer equipment, servers, storage systems, networking switches/routers, and other data center equipment
- Adds, moves, and changes of networking cables (fiber and copper) and power connections
- Resolve trouble/request tickets and provide detailed updates in ticketing systems
- Work with project managers and Data Center Operations team on project designs and implementations
- Help maintain data center documentation using DCIM tools
- Respond appropriately to power and cooling outages/issues
- Assure racking and cable management standards are being followed
- Interface with vendors for repair of computer equipment.
- Some travel and weekend/off hours work
Qualifications
“What do I need to have in order to do this job?”
- Minimum an Associate’s degree with emphasis in Electrical or Electronic Technologies or equivalent technical experience
- Minimum, of two (2) years in data center operations or equivalent experience
- Candidates should have experience with troubleshooting Lenovo servers, NetApp Storage, and network equipment, Network Appliance storage systems or similar type systems
- Excellent knowledge of data center best practices
- Experience with data center rack/cabinet cabling
- Experience in multiple operating systems required - Unix, Windows. Basic skills such as using commands, mounting file systems, scripting (ability to modify scripts and write scripts)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong skills in documentation and change management
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications: “What can I offer?”
- Familiarity with dcTrack or similar DCIM software
- Familiarity with data center power distribution (UPS, PDU) and cooling systems
- Working knowledge of maintaining Lenovo water cooled Neptune servers and related Cooling Distribution Units (CDU)
- Familiarity with installing and supporting Arista switches
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) used for data center monitoring ie. SynapSense and WebCTRL
- Experience in Perl and Python scripting
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range: $105,000 - $150,000
