About The Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Analytics Engineer to join our growing data team. In this role, you will be at the heart of our data ecosystem, transforming raw data into reliable, accessible, and actionable insights. You will bridge the gap between our data platform and business stakeholders, using your skills in SQL, Python, DBT, and Snowflake to build and maintain the data models that power our analytics and business intelligence.

You will work closely with data analysts, business intelligence specialists, and business users to understand their requirements and build scalable solutions that empower them to answer their own questions and uncover critical insights.

Why Join Us:

We're the right size business for you to make a real impact, with a workplace culture where you can be you. Perks of the role include:

  • Our much-loved approach to flexible hybrid working;
  • Mentoring and leadership programs, with access to Learning & Development tools;
  • First rate parental leave and support for working parents;
  • Regular social events including our famous Innovation Days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Modelling & Transformation: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data transformation pipelines and data models using DBT and Snowflake.
  • Report & Dashboard Enablement: Build and optimize the curated data marts that power our business intelligence tools. Collaborate with BI specialists to develop and maintain key reports and dashboards in Tableau, ensuring they are fed by clean, reliable, and performant data.
  • Data Quality and Governance: Implement and automate data quality tests, documentation, and lineage within our DBT projects. You will be accountable for the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of data delivered to the business.
  • Data Extraction & Scripting: Use Python and SQL to perform data extraction, validation, and ad-hoc analysis. Develop scripts to automate data processes and enhance our analytics capabilities.
  • Requirements Gathering: Work directly with business stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements for analytics projects, translating business needs into technical specifications for data models and reports.
  • Insight Support & Collaboration: Assist in the interpretation of data, clearly document data models and definitions, and support the communication of insights to business stakeholders in an understandable format.

Our Ideal Person:

Essentials:

  • 1-4 years of experience in a data-focused role such as Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, or Data Analyst.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for complex querying and data manipulation.
  • Hands-on experience with a data transformation tool, with a strong preference for DBT.
  • Experience working with a cloud data warehouse, specifically Snowflake.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in building reports and data visualizations using a BI tool like Tableau.
  • Programming skills in Python for data analysis (e.g., using libraries like Pandas) and scripting.
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices and version control using Git.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves:

  • Familiarity with building interactive data applications using Streamlit.
  • Exposure to or an interest in Machine Learning (ML) concepts and their practical applications.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster).
  • Knowledge of data engineering principles and ETL/ELT processes.
