The Communications Associate Manager plays a key role in shaping and executing FWD’s external communications strategy, ensuring the company’s reputation, purpose, and customer trust are consistently elevated across all stakeholders. This role goes beyond execution—it drives strategic planning, editorial direction, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen the brand, promote financial literacy, manage customer communications (including complaints), and proactively engage media and public stakeholders through purposeful storytelling and crisis management.

The role also serves as a subject matter expert in communications, anticipating reputational risks, brand positioning, and stakeholder engagement. It requires a strong understanding of the insurance and financial services landscape, including market trends, regulatory affairs, and ESG.

Drive thought leadership and financial literacy initiatives. Lead content strategy for corporate website and other, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and brand alignment.

Foster effective stakeholder engagement and ensure alignment of corporate narratives by driving collaboration across various departments and leadership teams and supporting initiatives that span various facets of the organization. Manage external engagement with industry groups, regulators, NGOs, and partners.

Contribute to strategic planning and execution of media relations, PR campaigns and executions aligned with corporate narrative. Define standards for messaging and collaborate with agency partners. Monitor and report media coverage.

Oversee customer-facing communications with Customer Experience to ensure clear, consistent, accurate messaging across customer touchpoints. Draft and review communications related to complaints and service updates.

Develop and help implement crisis communication protocols and templates. Advise on reputational risk and participate in tabletop exercises as needed. Assist in post-crisis trust-rebuilding strategies.

Communicate CSR, ESG, and community impact efforts. Lead and amplify storytelling around financial inclusion, disaster response, and sustainability.

Education & Certification:

  • University graduate from a reputable institution
  • Preferably with coursework in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related fields

Experience:  Minimum of 7 years’ work experience in a communications role

Experience and background in the following:

  • Proven expertise in PR, media relations, crisis communications, digital strategy, and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience advising senior leaders and contributing to business decision
  • Familiarity with life insurance, financial products, and customer behavior is a strong advantage
  • Exposure to regulatory affairs and ESG communications preferred
