KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country’s most critical role – protecting our national security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including user guides, technical manuals, release notes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), quick-reference materials, and online help content, tailored to various audiences (e.g., administrators, product teams, end-users, and developers).
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with Team Beskar’s engineers, product managers, and UX designers to gather information, clarify technical details, and ensure documentation aligns with the Gravity Platform’s functionality and updates.
- Ensure Clarity and Consistency: Write clear, concise, and user-friendly content that adheres to style guides and maintains consistency across all documentation.
- Edit and Review: Review and revise existing documentation to improve clarity, accuracy, and usability, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and users.
- Manage Documentation Projects: Plan, organize, and prioritize documentation tasks to meet project deadlines and deliverables, ensuring all documentation remains current with system updates.
- Support Marketing Efforts: Develop communication materials, promotional campaigns, and targeted content to support the Gravity Platform’s market strategy, engaging diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure all documentation meets applicable security and accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508 compliance) and is stored in government-designated repositories for consistent access and sustainment.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of Gravity Platform updates, industry trends, and best practices in technical writing to continuously improve documentation quality.
- Utilize Tools: Leverage documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Confluence, or Markdown-based platforms) and version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage and publish content.
Work Environment:
- Location: Remote (Must Reside In The Colorado Springs Area)

Qualifications:
Required:
- Must Reside in the Colorado Springs Area
- Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. government security clearance, which is something only a U.S. citizen can obtain
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a technology-driven environment, with experience in creating SOPs and marketing content
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with software development processes, APIs, and tools such as Markdown, Git, or content management systems. Experience with diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) is a plus
- Writing Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Confluence, or similar platforms, and comfortable with version control systems like Git
- Content Structuring: Strong ability to organize and structure complex information into clear, logical, and user-friendly formats, including the use of headings, lists, and visual aids
- Research and Analysis: Skilled in researching technical topics, interviewing subject matter experts, and analyzing product specifications to produce accurate documentation
- Style Guide Adherence: Experience applying and maintaining style guides (e.g., Microsoft Manual of Style, Chicago Manual of Style) to ensure consistency in tone, terminology, and formatting
- Time Management: Proven ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in ensuring accuracy, grammar, and formatting in all written content, with a focus on delivering polished deliverables
- Basic Coding Knowledge: Familiarity with basic coding concepts (e.g., HTML, CSS, or JSON) to document APIs or technical processes effectively
- Documentation Suite Development: Expertise in developing, managing, and maintaining a comprehensive suite of documentation, including user guides, SOPs, quick-reference materials, and platform usage documentation for diverse audiences (administrators, product teams, and end-users)
- Marketing Content Creation: Ability to create communication materials, promotional campaigns, and targeted content to support the Gravity Platform’s market strategy, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs
- Compliance and Storage: Knowledge of security and accessibility standards and experience storing documentation in government-designated repositories to ensure accessibility and sustainment

- Experience with Agile methodologies, familiarity with cloud-based technologies, or knowledge of the industry

Basic Compensations: $118,800 - $167,700 (For The Colorado Springs Area Only)
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
