KBR is seeking an Air Force Vision Research Lab Assistant to join the Operational Based Vision Assessment (OBVA) Laboratory team supporting the 711th Human Performance Wing, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. This position must be onsite. This position requires U.S Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
The Lab Assistant will serve as an integral team member working alongside a team of scientists, engineers, physicians, and other researchers to investigate individual differences in human visual performance and the relationship between operational task simulations. The Lab Assistant’s primary responsibilities include conducting data collection activities, assisting in the design and execution of research projects, operating experimental equipment, maintaining records, and contributing to the analysis and interpretation of research findings.

Responsibilities:
- Experimental data collection: Conduct data collection activities on human subjects in accordance with research protocols and Institutional Review Board requirements. This may involve administering tests, surveys, or other assessments, and recording and documenting the collected data accurately
- Research project execution: Assist in the design and execution of research projects, including preparing experimental materials, setting up equipment, and coordinating participant schedules. Follow established procedures and protocols to ensure consistency and reliability of data collection
- Equipment operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate experimental equipment, including optometry equipment and specialized research tools. Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of equipment for accurate data collection
- Record maintenance: Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental data, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Organize and store data in a systematic and secure manner for future analysis and reference
- Correspondence management: Manage and respond to project-related correspondence, including meeting invitations, internal communications, government-contractor communications, and subject communication regarding experiment scheduling and other matters
- Data analysis support: Assist in the analysis and interpretation of research findings by organizing and preparing data for statistical analysis or other analytical methods. Collaborate with the research team in summarizing and presenting findings to support research objectives
- Research documentation: Contribute to the preparation of research reports, articles, presentations, and other documentation as required. Assist in creating technical documentation, experimental checklists, and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and standards
- Collaborative teamwork: Work collaboratively with the research team, including scientists, engineers, and other researchers, to contribute to the overall research goals and objectives. Communicate effectively and share findings and insights within the team
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- An associate degree in science, engineering, math, STEM, or related field
- 2 + years of related work experience including (student) research assistant
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and oral communication skills, both technical and non-technical
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
Preferred Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, math, STEM, or related field and 0 + years related experience
