Meet The Team:

You will be part of the Global Engineering team within Operations providing leadership for Supplier Manufacturing Management (SMM), tasked with end-to-end technical oversight of our manufacturing technologies spanning our suppliers, contract manufacturers and automation houses for external suppliers, including providing technical support for on-market production at our Contract Manufacturers (CM’s).  You will bring your passion for process technology and build a strong team to provide technical leadership/expertise as it relates to technical manufacturing processes being utilized by local machine integrators and Dexcom Contract Manufacturing suppliers, including automated assembly and unique process technologies.  This crucial role supports Dexcom's thrilling growth trajectory in delivering essential, life-changing products to our valued customers. As the manager of this dynamic and highly effective team, you will collaborate closely across multiple functions and regions, gaining broad exposure to our entire product life cycle.

Where You Come In:

  • You will manage the engineering teams providing technical knowledge and leadership in the areas of Design For Manufacturability & Automated Assembly (DFMA), proof of principle, development, scaleup and implementation of automated manufacturing lines (primarily at integrators and contract manufacturers), aligning with cross functional stakeholders on requirements, improvements, needs, cost, and capacity initiatives that meet required quality and output.
  • Your teams will support Contract Manufacturer Technical Competency assessments and the development of long term CM partnerships to meet ongoing demand and NPI scaleup
  • Your teams will lead Process Technology Assessments for proposed automation and process technologies, with associated documentation and rationale
  • Your teams will provide technical leadership and support for the installation, start-up, validation, and transfer of automated manufacturing equipment and process technologies utilized throughout our Global Contract Manufacturing network
  • Your teams will lead technical assessments regarding the efficacy, robustness and proposed technical processes for automated assembly methodologies and inspection processes, proposing improvements where necessary to meet cost, reliability, capacity, and quality targets.  
  • Your teams will provide technical input into the design of new automation equipment/mfg processes in the areas of expertise as needed to drive to the most effective solutions at our contract manufacturers.
  • Your teams will guide and provide technical support to suppliers and internal teams, ensuring adherence to sound engineering and operations practices throughout the supply chain, fostering strong partnerships and promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

What Makes You Successful:

  • You provide guidance and leadership to you teams across technical disciplines, collaborating with cross-functional partners in manufacturing, R&D, supply chain, and quality assurance to achieve common goals.
  • Your teams will provide leadership and support for technology selection, design, scaleup and troubleshooting high volume manufacturing for multiple process and automation solutions and suppliers.
  • You must be able and capable to travel with the teams to our contract manufacturing partners to investigate production or quality related issues and troubleshoot equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Your teams successfully collaborate with CM’s Automation teams for design for manufacturing considerations for new product development. Your teams support the development of productive partnerships for stable on-market performance and drive continuous improvement efforts.

Key Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or related engineering discipline with a strong focus on medical device manufacturing, automated systems and process technologies with a minimum of 10 yrs  experience in related fields.
  • Experience managing technical associates across diverse engineering skillsets – ie automated assembly, process technology, packaging, process optimization and validation for medical devices
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop Engineering talent
  • Experience in high volume medical device manufacturing highly desired
  • Experience working with automation suppliers, integrators, and deployment at Contract Manufacturer sites
  • Strong technical leadership and collaborative skills required
  • Ability to travel to contract manufacturers, integrators and/or manufacturing sites, as necessary.
  • Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN, KAIZEN, and Six Sigma methodologies to significantly enhance process efficiency, reduce operational costs, and elevate product quality standards.

Experience And Education Requirements:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree with 13+ years of industry experience • 5-8 years of previous people management experience
