Job Information:

Summary:

Facilitates the Case Management process to assure compliance with CMS, DOH, JCAHO, Managed Care and other healthcare standards.

Monitors compliance in accordance with standards and regulations set by regulatory agencies in relation to quality patient care and reimbursement such as in Observation and Short Stay Projects in addition to Managed Care Organization policy and procedure.

Provides education in consultation with physicians regarding medical management.

Position Responsibilities:

• Effectively communicates with attending and consulting physicians and multidisciplinary team on issues of medical management, documentation, LOS, denial activity and the movement of patient through continuum of care.

• Participate in Medical Management Committee to facilitate review of data and collaboration of plan of action for the resolution and education of identified trends resulting in a negative outcome.

• Prepare data and plan of action for the resolution and education of identified trends for the Quality Council, Medical Executive Committee and Medical Staff Quality Management Committee as appropriate.

• Review of Medicare /Medicaid medical records requiring authorization and/or communication with attending physician.

• Works in collaboration with external resources to effectively manage concurrent and retroactive denials, LOS and compliance activity.

• Participates in medical record audit process with review of patient records and initiates and/or implements appropriate action when indicated.

• Participates in collaboration with Executive Director for Urgent Care program development with creation of: standard operation procedures, job descriptions, quality metrics, G&O's in addition to development of annual budget to enhance Urgent Care Medicine services throughout the care continuum.

• Serves as physician spokesperson for Urgent Care to the internal and external communities.

• Coordinates with VPA for clinical coverage when necessary.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

1-3 years Case Management/Utilization.

Required Education:

MD/DO degree.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

Current NJ Medical License.
