Job Title: Surgery Coordinator
Department: Surgical Scheduling
Location: SCHI - Brighton
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00AM - 4:30PM)
SUMMARY:
Coordinates surgical scheduling for multiple physicians in busy surgical practice. Includes but not limited to scheduling pre-admission history and physicals, OR times, Covid Testing and beds with planned requests for hospital services, diagnostic procedures and daytime add on cases or in-house procedures. Schedule and coordinate surgical cases and procedures with other physician specialty practices and departments. Reports To: Practice Manager
Responsibilities:
- Communicates with patients in person and by phone in a friendly and professional manner; provides pre-operative instructions and coordinates transportation as needed.
- Coordinates all aspects of surgical scheduling with physicians, patients, facilities, and vendors; ensures clearances, arrival times, and necessary documentation are properly communicated.
- Obtains and documents procedure and diagnosis codes, completes insurance pre-certifications/authorizations, and arranges peer-to-peer reviews when required.
- Maintains accurate records by entering surgeries into the EMR system and updating internal tracking tools; ensures schedules align with physician calendars for billing and operational accuracy.
- Collaborates with clinical and clerical staff to resolve scheduling challenges; supports ongoing policy and procedure improvements and may participate in team or physician meetings.
- Acts as a liaison for RRH affiliates and regional sites, facilitates the exchange of patient records, and communicates pertinent information with providers through EMR.
Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in business, social sciences, human resources, or equivalent preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Three plus years of relevant healthcare experience preferred
- Strong analytical, computer, organizational, customer service and communication skills.
- For the transportation departments, knowledge of IDX and CCS is beneficial.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
