The Opportunity:
The Assistant/Associate/ Director of Recruitment for Career Edge (CE) is a revenue-generating role responsible for advancing Unity’s Education Enterprise (CE) initiatives by promoting our innovative primarily 90-credit programs and other offerings. This position works closely with recruitment leadership in designing and executing recruitment strategies that attract, engage, and enroll a diverse and talented population of primarily online learners on both broad outreach and targeted population strategies.
The successful candidate will lead day-to-day recruitment efforts—building, delivering, and scaling enrollments—while ensuring Unity meets its goals through data-driven decision-making, strategic partnerships, and a seamless student experience from inquiry to Census Day. The ideal candidate is results-oriented, technologically fluent (including AI-enabled tools), and willing to roll up their sleeves to execute recruitment strategies directly. Responsibilities include developing and executing recruitment plans, monitoring and optimizing conversion metrics, traveling for outreach, and modeling the work expected of senior admissions and recruitment leaders.
As enrollments grow, the role will expand to include hiring and managing recruiters, with clear accountability and performance expectations. This is a full-time, growth-focused position requiring strong leadership, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to Unity’s mission.
Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000

- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement annual and term-based recruitment strategies with clear enrollment goals by program, market segment, and start date.
- Identify priority audience segments and partner with Marketing to align messaging with Unity’s sustainability mission and value proposition.
- Track conversion metrics and provide recommendations to continuously optimize recruitment funnels and maximize enrollment outcomes.
- Build, deliver, and grow degree-seeking full-time student enrollments within a preset cost of acquisition.
- Oversee efficient credit transfer and pre-evaluation processes to shorten time-to-offer and improve applicant experience.
- Ensure recruitment practices align with Unity’s eight-start academic calendar and maintain accuracy of pre-enrollment materials.
- Personally engage in all necessary recruitment activities, demonstrating a willingness to call, travel, and model the work expected of future team members is essential.
- Manage the recruitment lifecycle within Salesforce Education Cloud, including lead-source taxonomy, attribution modeling, and pipeline management.
- Build and maintain recruitment dashboards to forecast against goals, deliver weekly progress updates, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Coordinate recruitment events, digital outreach campaigns, and presentations across multiple channels.
- Cultivate relationships with partner institutions, community organizations, and industry groups to expand Unity’s reach.
- Showcase student success, applied learning, and career outcomes to inspire and engage prospective students.
- Lead with accountability, clarity, and adaptability—embracing change as part of Unity’s DNA.
- As enrollment grows, participate in hiring and developing new recruitment team members, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and results.
- Uphold the principle that leadership means modeling every aspect of the work expected of the team.
Qualifications
Do you have the skills?
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2+ years experience in recruitment, admissions, or sales with a proven record of meeting or exceeding enrollment or recruitment targets.
- Experience supporting diverse and first-generation student populations.
- Familiarity with CRM software for tracking leads and managing pipelines.
- Strong relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills; able to engage prospective students virtually and in person.
- Ability to thrive in digital spaces, including social media, virtual events, and platforms such as Discord or Reddit.
- Excellent organizational, initiative, and time management skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems.
- Valid Maine Driver’s License (or ability to obtain) and willingness to travel regularly, including evenings/weekends as needed.
- Personal commitment to Unity’s environmental mission and student-centered values.
Preferred skills:
• Master’s degree.
• Experience in recruiting online students for non-standard terms.
• Familiarity with articulation agreements, transfer pathways, and student mobility strategies.
• Experience with Salesforce.
Location: Pineland Farms, New Gloucester, Maine
Just a half hour from Portland, Unity Environmental University Headquarters, Unity Environmental University Distance Education, Unity @ Pineland, and Sustainable Ventures are based at the Pineland Farms campus. The facilities are within easy access to one of the fastest-growing cities for startups in the country.
Work Schedule:
Work hours are specific to the requirements of this position and can include days, evenings, weekends. Working extended hours may be required as needed and Unity Environmental University employees must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling their responsibilities while meeting the institution's needs.
Although at Unity Environmental University Enterprise employees are generally scheduled to work at their base location, there are times when travel is necessary and employees are required from time to time to attend events, meetings or work temporary assignment at any Unity Environmental University location.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of either hand for repetitive movements such as grasping, grasping, and turning, and fine manipulation is required as is the ability to use the telephone for internal and external communications.
