Job Summary:

Under LIMITED supervision, the Distribution Tech is able to perform the following: Must acquire the technical knowledge necessary to understand medical terminology and interact with nurses and physician about product needs and substitutes when back orders arise.  Perform all required computer skills necessary to enter pick tickets, pull supplies, issue supplies, pull supply requisitions request from department generated reports, adjust inventories when discrepancies exist, do cycle counts, update nursing stock par forms and be detail oriented to ensure inventory accuracy. Use the proper lifting techniques when pulling and putting away medical supplies to ensure Associates safety. Work independently on weekends. Cross train to help out on Loading dock/receiving function and Linen distribution to cover vacations and sick days. Good phone etiquette.  Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

Essential Functions, Duties, And Responsibilities:

  1. Using computer generated par level sheets, the Associate takes inventory of each medical supply storage area and replenishes inventory to par levels or adjusts according to current patient census.
  2. Receives incoming inventory medical supplies and ensure they are put away in proper inventory locations within storeroom.
  3. Receives requests for supplies, selects stock from inventory, and distributes supplies to designated areas within hospital and all clinics and off-site locations system wide.
  4. Responsible for beeper pages one week a month.
  5. Cross-trained and rotates as needed for Laundry Transporter and Receiving Clerk.
  6. Participates in weekly scheduled inventory cycle counts.
  7. Removes outdated supplies from departments/storeroom for disposition.
  8. Uses computerized inventory management’s system to organize and maintain records pertinent to stock levels, create new Par Level Sheet for new depts. or new areas, Issuing out supplies requested, recommends modification to inventory levels.
  9. Rotates medical supplies in main inventory and user departments.
  10. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  11. Provides good customer service in all staff interactions.
  12. Detail oriented to ensure supplies are posted out correctly and accurately to maintain computer system accuracy.
  13. Maintains departmental records, reports, and files as required.
  14. Rotates holidays and weekend with other departmental Associates.
  15. Keeps the storeroom area clean and orderly at all times.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Heavy physical effort: ability to frequently move or position independently 35 lbs. and occasionally move or position up to 40 lbs. Frequent periods of prolonged stationary position and moving around the unit while working with supplies. May come in contact with blood and bodily fluids. Considerable amount of positioning while putting supplies in proper locations. Available to work overtime as needed due to increased delivery of supplies and staffing shortages.

Contacts With Others:

Contact with all Associates.  Occasional contact with outside delivery personnel.

Equipment Used/Special Skills Required:

Personal computers. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel. Precision and attention to detail is vital. Ability of use of Hydraulic pallet jack, multiple delivery carts.

Qualifications

Previous experience in stock and distribution procedures preferred.  Previous experience with personal computers and medical terminology preferred.
