About The Role:

The Pharmacist – Trainer & Assessor is responsible for the effective delivery of nationally accredited vocational training of the PSA, including the Registered Training Organisation (RTO). In particular, the role focuses on delivering and implementing the training and assessment strategy for PSA training products (such as qualifications, skills sets and units of competency) relevant to community pharmacy assistants and pharmacists. The role will support workforce development and improve the knowledge and skills of intern pharmacists, pharmacists and pharmacy staff through the delivery of exceptional learning experiences.

The Pharmacist - Trainer and Assessor will play a critical role in our education team shaping the next generation of pharmacy professionals. The role requires a blend of clinical expertise, educational capability, and interpersonal skills to ensure we are overseeing the development of interns that are competent, confident, and ready for independent practice.

More broadly, this role will contribute to the business unit’s strategic goals by enabling safe, confident and competent pharmacist practice under evolving models of care and supporting the organisation’s commitment to innovation, professional development, and workforce readiness across the sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver training and assessment according to PSA policies and processes, RTO standards, government contract requirements and customer service agreements.
  • Utilise effective and innovative teaching methodologies to enhance training and assessment processes, ensuring the alignment of learning objectives.
  • Conduct and facilitate assessments in accordance with the Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence as specified under RTO Standards.
  • Provide training, support, mentoring, coaching and advice to learners, supervisors or preceptors and employers.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation throughout the training and assessment process, in line with regulatory requirements.

What We'Re Looking For:

  • Pharmacist registered with AHPRA with current or recent experience in pharmacy practice.
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or its successor) or willingness and ability to undertake the Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00019) upon commencement.
  • Experience in the delivery of adult training and assessment in the healthcare sector and, proven training, coaching and facilitation skills including an engaging training delivery style, knowledge of contemporary learning practices and adaptability to accommodate diverse learner needs effectively.
  • Hold vocational competencies or able to demonstrate equivalence of competencies relevant to the pharmacy industry.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge and skills relevant to the pharmacy industry, including a deep understanding of the issues, needs and evolving trends of the pharmacy industry locally and nationally to support workforce development.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective instructions and constructive feedback to support varying learning needs.
  • Willingness to maintain current knowledge and skills in vocational training, learning and assessment through participation in professional development opportunities.

Desirable

  • Experience using Learning Management Systems, Student Management Systems and Customer Relationship Management Systems.
  • Experience working for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
  • Experience facilitating workplace-based learning and implementing workplace-based assessments
  • Sound knowledge of the VET sector, RTO Standards or compliance requirements set by the Australian Skills Quality Authority or State and Territory Training Authorities
