ATI is currently looking for a Heat Treat Operator within our manufacturing facility in Irvine, California. As a Heat Treat Operator, you will be an integral part of a successful team that is responsible for producing machined in military, aerospace, oil/gas and other applications.
In this role, you will be responsible for performing the required heating and cooling operations necessary to impact physical properties in forgings to conform to our customer specifications and meet product performance goals and objectives.
A successful Heat Treat Operator uses their interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, understands heat treat/furnace principles, and is able to analyze and resolve problems effectively and implement long-term solutions. This role is morning shift 5am – 1:30pm. You’ll begin your shift Sunday evening, and your work week will wrap up Friday morning.
The pay scale for this position is currently $21-$26/hr.
QualificationsAdditional Responsibilities
- Prepare furnace loads by following furnace load operating procedures including loading forgings into the heat treat furnace, setting appropriate furnace temperature controls dependent on material and process, and monitoring furnace operation and performance.
- Removes forgings from furnace after required heating using a combination of manipulators and forklifts
- Moves completed furnace loads and processes forgings through quench and cool operations
- Operates Brinell/Rockwell hardness testing equipment determining the hardness of forgings after heat treatment
- Creates move tickets after heat treatment processing is complete
- Works from specifications, chart, detailed work instructions, etc.
- Generates/updates required reports to document process parameters
- Prepare and assembles load thermocouple
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least one year of heat treat experience or two years of experience with forging furnaces and production including working within Heat Treat Standards (AMS 2750 pyrometry standard) and hardness testing.
Skills
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong technical forging knowledge including, furnaces, heat treat practices and procedures, thermocouple wires/probes
- Safe use and operation of industrial heavy equipment
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, follow detailed instructions, and have a keen awareness on operations, procedures and practices.
